Susan Embert Discusses “Malice” Episode on Dateline

In a recent interview with Dateline, Susan Embert, a Dougherty County resident who was convicted of murder for the second time in connection with her husband’s death, spoke out about the allegations against her. When asked directly whether she killed her husband, Embert denied the accusation, stating, “No, I didn’t.” She also addressed claims that she had poisoned her husband, vehemently denying those allegations as well. Embert expressed disbelief at the accusations made by her late husband’s family, stating, “I don’t know why they are lying about me. They don’t even know me enough to lie about me.”

Embert’s legal battle has been a tumultuous one, with three trials resulting in one conviction. Her second trial ended in a mistrial due to a prosecutor’s mention of “anti-freeze,” a significant detail given the prior allegations of poisoning in the first trial. Despite the challenges she has faced, Embert remains steadfast in her denial of the accusations against her.

The full interview with Susan Embert, along with additional comments from her late husband’s family, will air on Friday, Feb. 27, at 9 p.m. on WALB NBC and will also be available for streaming on Peacock. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story by following WALB on Facebook and Twitter.
