Hulu to Adapt “The Haunting of Alejandra” for Television

Hulu is gearing up to bring another exciting series to its already diverse lineup of content. The streaming platform is working on adapting ‘The Haunting of Alejandra,’ a horror novel by V. Castro published in 2023. The show will be written and produced by Steven Paul Anderson.

Based on the story of La Llorona, the novel follows a woman named Alejandra as she grapples with a weeping specter and uncovers her family’s history of trauma, colonization, and motherhood. The series will dive into Alejandra’s journey as she battles depression and a supernatural entity, all while trying to break a curse that has haunted the women in her family for generations.

Known for its blend of literary horror, cultural richness, and exploration of themes like systemic oppression and self-discovery, ‘The Haunting of Alejandra’ promises to deliver a captivating and thought-provoking viewing experience.

The project is being produced by 20th Television, with Eva Longoria and Cris Abrego from Hyphenate Media Group, as well as Gigi Saul Guerrero and Raynor Shima from Luchagore, serving as executive producers. Additionally, the author, V. Castro, will also be involved as a producer.
