Sony to Develop Animated “Venom” Film for Disney Plus
Sony Pictures is at it again, diving into the world of Marvel with a new project in the works. This time, they’re focusing on an animated film featuring the beloved character Venom. Known for their live-action takes on Spider-Man and their recent success with animated Spider-Verse films, Sony seems to be shifting gears with this new project.
Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, who brought us “Final Destination: Bloodlines,” this animated film is sure to bring a fresh perspective to the character of Venom. While details about executive producers are still under wraps, it’s expected that the original “Venom” producers, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Matt Tolmach, will be involved in this project.
Tom Hardy, who previously played Venom in live-action films, is set to return to the world of Venom once again. However, the specifics of his involvement, whether voicing the character or working as an executive producer, remain uncertain.
With Venom being a fan-favorite character who has appeared in various live-action films and brought in massive box office revenue, this new animated project is highly anticipated. Keep in mind, though, that with the current partnership between Sony and Netflix, it might be a while before we see this film on Disney+.
As a big fan of both Sony and Marvel, it would be fantastic to see them collaborate more closely to give audiences the best of both worlds—live-action Spider-Man within the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the animated Spider-Verse films from Sony. This way, fans can enjoy a diverse range of Spider-Man adventures in both familiar and exciting new ways.
