Warner Bros. Discovery: Mood Shifts Towards Netflix Deal over Paramount Takeover

Warner Bros. Discovery employees are weighing the pros and cons of potential new ownership. Recent months have seen a shift in sentiment, with many now leaning towards welcoming Netflix as the new owners of Warner Bros.’ studios and HBO Max. The debate between Paramount Skydance and Netflix seems to have tapered off within Warner Bros. Discovery.

After taking some time to think about the implications of an acquisition by either company on Warner Bros.’ legacy and employees, the majority now seems to prefer Netflix. However, not everyone is sold on Netflix’s ownership yet. Some skepticism lingers on the Burbank lot about how Netflix’s ownership may impact the film studio and theatrical distribution.

Despite these reservations, Netflix co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters have managed to sway many Warner Bros. Discovery employees with their promises and vision for the combined company. Some are beginning to warm up to the idea of Warner Bros. Discovery becoming a part of Netflix.

As of now, Warner Bros. Discovery is still in play. The company has initiated talks with Paramount Skydance, with Netflix’s approval, to explore any potential bids higher than the $30/share offered by Paramount Skydance. For the time being, Warner Bros. Discovery’s board continues to recommend that investors vote in favor of the Netflix deal at the upcoming meeting.
