Apple Podcasts App Now Supports HTTP Live Streaming Video Technology

Apple has some exciting news for fans of its Podcasts app. The app is about to get a major update that will bring support for HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) video technology. Previously, the app only streamed video in formats like MOV, MP4, and M4V.

This update comes with some fantastic benefits for users. Now, you can easily switch between watching and listening to content. Plus, you’ll have the option for a horizontal full display. Another great feature is the ability to download both video and audio streams for offline viewing. This wasn’t possible with the old streaming method that relied on an RSS-like feed. Don’t worry, though, RSS is still an option, but HLS definitely has its advantages.

The technology also includes picture-in-picture functionality for seamless multitasking, especially on devices like the iPad. And to top it off, the updated app will automatically adjust the picture quality to ensure smooth playback, whether you’re on Wi-Fi or cellular data.
