AEW featured on “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” on HBO Max

On Sunday night, “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” on HBO Max featured a segment that highlighted anti-ICE chants at a recent AEW Dynamite event. The fans showed their support with a brief “F— ICE” chant at the start of the World Championship Eliminator match between Brody King and MJF in Las Vegas. John Oliver commended the crowd for expressing their views effectively and even joked about MJF’s response.

In a recent episode of AEW’s Grand Slam Australia, fans were heard chanting “F— ICE” at the beginning of the World Championship Match between King and MJF. Surprisingly, this segment was not edited out, even though it was a taped show. Last year, at the Grand Slam Mexico event, King made a statement by wearing an “ABOLISH ICE” shirt during his match.

In an interview with Ross Tucker, MJF expressed his appreciation for AEW’s openness to fan feedback and willingness to address current topics, regardless of the political climate. It’s clear that both the fans and the wrestlers at AEW have a strong sense of social awareness and are not afraid to speak out on important issues.
