Netflix acquires new drama series starring Matthew McConaughey and Cole Hauser, created by Nic Pizzolatto
Netflix has snagged a new thrilling series starring Matthew McConaughey and Cole Hauser, beating out other bidders in a competitive process. The show, still in its early stages, marks a reunion between creator Nic Pizzolatto and McConaughey, although final deals with the actors are still being ironed out. While plot details are scarce, we do know that McConaughey and Hauser will play siblings, adding an exciting dynamic to the series. Skydance Sports is on board to produce the show.
This project is an exciting continuation of McConaughey and Pizzolatto’s successful collaboration, which kicked off with the acclaimed first season of “True Detective.” The duo had plans to work together on FX’s “Redeemer” in the past, though that project did not move forward. Additionally, McConaughey is set to star in a movie based on the “Mike Hammer” novels, with Pizzolatto penning the script.
For McConaughey, this new series is another in a series of “True Detective” reunions. He recently wrapped filming on the Apple TV+ comedy “Brothers,” where he shares the screen with his longtime friend and former “True Detective” co-star, Woody Harrelson, drawing inspiration from their real-life bond. Meanwhile, Hauser, known for his role as Rip Wheeler in Paramount’s “Yellowstone,” is set to headline a spinoff of the show with co-star Kelly Reilly and Oscar-nominee Annette Bening.
Pizzolatto’s work extends beyond “True Detective,” with his novels translated into over 30 languages and his accolades including multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations as well as two Writers Guild Awards. This new series is sure to captivate audiences with its talented cast and creative team.
