Hulu to License Podcasts: What You Need to Know

Hulu is taking a big step forward by not just providing podcasts but also licensing them to other platforms. The streaming service recently announced its first major deal to license the comedy advice podcast “We’re Here to Help,” featuring hosts Jake Johnson and Gareth Reynolds. Exciting news alert: new episodes of the podcast will be streaming twice a week on Hulu, starting on February 10, with releases on Sundays and Tuesdays.

What’s cool about this deal is that video episodes of the podcast will hit Hulu a day before they’re available on other audio platforms or the show’s YouTube channel. This move follows a trend that started in late 2025 when Hulu and Disney+ launched companion video podcasts for original shows like “Only Murders in the Building,” “Dancing with the Stars,” and “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.”

Speaking of podcasts, did you know that YouTube is the number one podcast platform in the United States right now? Around 39% of weekly listeners use YouTube as their top spot for podcasts, according to Nielsen. Spotify isn’t far behind, with over 300,000 video podcast titles and more than 250 million users streaming video podcasts on the platform.

And get this – podcasts are not just for your headphones anymore. The number of people listening to podcasts on their smart TVs has gone up to 9% of the U.S. audience by 2026, beating out smart speakers as the main listening device. It’s clear that podcasts are becoming a big part of our entertainment world.
