Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Tucson

A tragic pedestrian crash in Tucson has left one woman dead, the city’s police department confirmed. The incident occurred on January 27 around 7 p.m. near Ajo Way and Valley Road after reports of a crash involving a pedestrian led officers to the scene.

Authorities shared that the pedestrian, identified as 43-year-old Nancy Rivera, suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Sadly, Rivera later succumbed to her injuries, as per police reports.

It was revealed that Rivera was crossing the street mid-block when the collision occurred. Witness interviews and evidence from the road suggested that Rivera was trying to walk southbound across Ajo Way alongside another pedestrian when the accident happened.

Reports indicate she was not in a marked or implied crosswalk at the time of the collision with a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado. The authorities confirmed that speed and impairment were not contributing factors to the incident.

The investigation into the tragedy is ongoing, and as of now, no charges or citations have been issued.
