Catherine O’Hara Stuns at Hollywood Event Prior to Passing
Catherine O’Hara was all smiles at her final public appearance just four months before her passing. The beloved “Schitt’s Creek” actress was last seen attending Apple TV+’s Primetime Emmy Party at the popular Los Angeles restaurant Ysabel on September 14th. She looked stunning in a floor-length black gown and exuded joy as she walked the red carpet at this high-profile Hollywood event.
Accompanied by her husband, Bo Welch, an Oscar- and Emmy-nominated production designer, Catherine O’Hara shone bright on the red carpet. The couple met in 1987 on the set of Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice” and tied the knot in April 1992. Despite her passing at the age of 71, O’Hara leaves behind fond memories and a legacy of incredible talent.
Her agency, CAA, confirmed her death with a statement expressing sadness and announcing that she had passed away following a brief illness. In the hours leading up to her passing, she was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital in a serious condition. The cause of her death remains unclear at this time, but she is survived by her husband and their two sons, Matthew (31) and Luke (29).
Catherine O’Hara first captured hearts while starring in the Canadian sketch comedy show “SCTV” in the late ’70s and early ’80s. She went on to star in iconic films like “Beetlejuice” and the “Home Alone” franchise before stealing the show as Moira Rose in “Schitt’s Creek,” a role that earned her an Emmy in 2020 for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. Her talent and spirit will be dearly missed, but her legacy will undoubtedly live on.
