Portsmouth Signs Arsenal Defender Peacock for Academy Development Registration Deal
Portsmouth has just signed Arsenal defender Niamh Peacock on an Academy Development Registration deal, making her the first player to join under this new arrangement. Peacock, who is 17 years old, brings almost a decade of experience progressing through the Arsenal academy. While she hasn’t played for the senior team just yet, she has showcased her skills in the Professional Game Academy League.
During the first half of the season, Peacock gained valuable senior experience playing for FA Women’s National League Southern Premier Division club Watford. She has also represented England at various youth levels, including Under-17s. Portsmouth manager, Jay Sadler, expressed his delight at having Peacock join the team, highlighting her strengths as a strong, ball-playing defender who has honed her skills in a top-notch environment at Arsenal.
The addition of Peacock to the squad is a strategic move to strengthen their defense. Arsenal graciously allowed Portsmouth to play a role in her continued development, with Sadler emphasizing the importance of this partnership.
Peacock could make her debut for Portsmouth in their upcoming match against Durham in Barclays WSL2. This signing marks an exciting opportunity for Peacock to continue her growth as a talented young player in the world of women’s football.
