Peacock’s ‘Field Generals’: Exploring the History of Black Quarterbacks

Rodney Peete, all former Eagles quarterbacks. Cunningham, who was the first Black quarterback to start for the Eagles, began his career in 1985 and played for 10 years. Following in his footsteps, Peete, McNabb, Vick, and Hurts also made their mark as Eagles quarterbacks.

In addition to Eagles players, the docuseries will include interviews with other trailblazing Black quarterbacks such as James Harris, Warren Moon, and Doug Williams. These players paved the way for future generations and made significant contributions to the game.

The series aims to highlight the brotherhood among Black quarterbacks and showcase their impact on the sport. Former Eagles quarterback Michael Vick expressed his thoughts on the evolution of Black quarterbacks, noting the city of Philadelphia’s receptiveness to both Black and white quarterbacks as long as they are successful.

Although Jalen Hurts is not listed as an interview subject in Peacock’s announcement, the series will feature active players like Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes, who have both achieved significant milestones in their careers. The upcoming docuseries will shed light on the journey of Black quarterbacks in the NFL and celebrate their accomplishments.
