Hillsdale to release new film: Theatrical premiere
Hillsdale College is gearing up to release its first-ever film in theaters this Memorial Day weekend. Entitled “Revolutionary America,” the documentary will hit screens on May 31st and is set to play on 1,000 screens nationwide until June 2nd. This exciting project, made possible with the help of Fathom Entertainment, aims to delve into the decades leading up to the American Revolution and the war itself.
The film features a lineup of esteemed individuals, including College President Larry Arnn, professors Wilfred McClay, Paul Moreno, Thomas West, Kevin Slack, and John Grant. Additionally, the documentary will include contributions from John Lovell, Michael Knowles, and Eric Metaxas. These renowned individuals will bring their expertise to the narrative, making “Revolutionary America” a comprehensive exploration of this pivotal period in American history.
Jeremiah Regan, executive director of online learning at Hillsdale College, expressed excitement about the upcoming release, noting that it coincides with the 250th anniversary of America’s founding. He emphasized the significance of celebrating and studying this milestone moment in history.
The decision to release the film in theaters was a strategic one, aimed at reaching a broader audience beyond the Hillsdale community. By partnering with Fathom Entertainment and exploring new avenues for distribution, Hillsdale hopes to expand its reach and engage with viewers in a meaningful way.
“Revolutionary America” is a follow-up to the successful “Colonial America” docuseries, which premiered last year. Plans are already in motion for a six-part cut of the documentary to be released around July 4th. Looking ahead, Hillsdale College is exploring opportunities for future theater releases and potential streaming deals with major platforms like Apple TV+ and Paramount+.
In a competitive landscape of historical documentaries, Hillsdale College aims to provide a fresh perspective on the American Revolution. Professor Wilfred McClay believes that “Revolutionary America” will offer viewers a compelling and coherent narrative, distinct from other retellings of this critical period in history. Through engaging storytelling and expert analysis, Hillsdale’s documentary hopes to leave a lasting impact on its audience.
