Alex Honnold Earnings for Netflix Skyscraper Free Solo Climb

Professional rock climber Alex Honnold recently shared how much he got paid for his daring feat of scaling the 1,667-foot Taipei 101 skyscraper without any safety equipment, which was broadcast live on Netflix. In an interview with the New York Times, Honnold revealed that he received a payment in the “mid-six figures” range for the climb. While he acknowledged that this amount might seem low compared to what other athletes in mainstream sports earn, he emphasized that he would have done the climb for free if given the opportunity.

Honnold, who gained widespread recognition after the release of the documentary Free Solo, in which his solo climbing exploits were featured, has a long history of pushing the boundaries of the sport. In 2017, he made history by becoming the first person to climb El Capitan in Yosemite National Park without using any safety ropes.

Despite the modest payday for his Taipei 101 climb, in comparison to athletes in other sports, Honnold remains focused on his love for the sport and the thrill of taking on new challenges.
