Peacock eyes Super Bowl LX as the biggest streaming event
It’s almost Super Bowl time, and Peacock is gearing up for a huge streaming event with the big game. This year, the Seattle Seahawks will face off against the New England Patriots in what promises to be an exciting West Coast vs. East Coast showdown. Plus, it’s a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX back in 2015, starring Tom Brady and his winning Patriots team. NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service is all set to share exclusive distribution rights with NBC Sports for this event.
Last year’s Super Bowl, which Fox Sports shared with Tubi, brought in a massive 127.7 million viewers, breaking records. Now, NBC is looking to use the upcoming Super Bowl as a launchpad for the exclusive distribution of the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, happening from Feb. 6 to Feb. 22.
Some exciting football facts – The most-watched NFL divisional playoff game on record is the recent Los Angeles Rams vs. Chicago Bears match, which pulled in a whopping 45.4 million viewers. In fact, this game marked NBC Sports’ largest NFL simul-stream audience ever.
When it comes to Peacock’s contributions to the NFL scene, it’s been a pretty big deal. During NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” 2025 season, they hit record numbers with an average of 23.5 million cross-platform viewers (including Peacock). And here’s an interesting tidbit – Peacock saw a streaming growth of 16% around NFL content in some monthly Nielsen data.
So, if you’re a fan of football, and missing the Super Bowl isn’t an option, Peacock is the place to be for all the action this year. And it’s not just the big game – stay tuned for exclusive Winter Olympics coverage as well!
