AEW Not Heading to Netflix in Warner Bros. Deal
In a recent joint filing, Netflix and Warner Bros. Discovery shared updates on their major deal that has been making waves in Hollywood. Essentially, Netflix decided to switch up their offer for Warner Bros.’ studios, streaming, and linear HBO to an all-cash deal, similar to what Paramount did. Sports rights and secondary WB rights like Turner Classic Movies are also in the mix, and things are set to shift around quite a bit, especially in international markets.
While the 519-page filing was a bit of a monster to sift through, some interesting bits of information were tucked away inside. For example, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) didn’t get a single mention in the massive document. However, page 53 hinted about what the future holds for the WWE competitor. It looks like AEW rights will likely stay with Discovery post-deal, but their weekly series and premium live events are still expected to stream on HBO Max in the near future. So, wrestling fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing they won’t have to go searching for their favorite matches.
