Billy Bob Thornton Addresses Reports of Leaving Paramount+ Hit Landman

Billy Bob Thornton, known for playing Tommy Norris in the popular Paramount+ series Landman, recently addressed rumors circulating about his departure from the show. Fans have been captivated by Thornton’s portrayal of Tommy, a character created by Taylor Sheridan, the mastermind behind Yellowstone.

Speculation arose after Tommy’s character was fired as president of M-Tex by Cami, played by Demi Moore, at the end of season two. Despite the challenges ahead for Tommy, Thornton has made it clear that he is committed to staying on the series.

In an interview with USA Today, Thornton dismissed reports of his departure as “AI generated nonsense.” He clarified, “There’s an AI report that Demi and I are a couple now, and there’s one that I’m leaving the show. They have nothing to do with reality.”

Since its debut in November 2024, Landman has garnered attention for its gripping storylines, including a memorable full frontal nudity scene featuring Thornton. The show has received critical acclaim, leading to a renewal for a third season in December 2025. While a release date for the upcoming season has not been announced, Thornton has confirmed that he will be back to continue bringing Tommy’s story to life.

Reflecting on his experience working with Sam Elliot, who plays Tommy’s on-screen father, Thornton expressed his enthusiasm for the series. He stated, “It’s been great working with Sam Elliot. And I love doing the show. I’ll be here as long as it plays out. If it’s five years, great. If it’s six, I’m there.”

The next season of Landman is expected to follow Tommy as he embarks on forming his own company, CTT Oil Exploration and Cattle, alongside a talented cast of characters. Thornton will be joined by Ali Larter, who portrays Tommy’s ex-wife, Angela.
