Spotify to Increase Subscription Prices Next Month: What You Need to Know

Spotify is giving its premium subscribers a heads up that prices will be going up by a dollar next month in the U.S. This will be the third price increase in four years for the popular streaming service. Starting in February 2026, individual premium plans will cost $12.99 per month.

But it’s not just the individual plans getting a price bump. The Duo plan will be $18.99 per month, the Family plan will be $21.99 per month, and even student plans will go up from $5.99 to $6.99 per month. Spotify says these price adjustments are necessary to ensure they can keep offering a top-notch experience and support artists.

This isn’t the first time Spotify has raised prices – they also did it in the U.K. and Switzerland last fall. It looks like these changes are part of a broader strategy for the company.

Despite the price increase, Spotify has been working hard to enhance its service. They’ve been expanding their offerings for creators, introducing new tools for video podcasters, and even getting into the audiobook market. Premium subscribers in the U.S. and Canada can now enjoy music videos on the platform, adding even more value to their membership.

Spotify’s efforts seem to be paying off. In the third quarter of 2025, they saw a 12% increase in premium subscribers, reaching a total of 281 million. They have a whopping 713 million monthly active users overall, showing that their focus on attracting and keeping listeners is working.
