Snoop Dogg’s NBA Analyst Role Highlights Global Appeal and On-Air Presence
Snoop Dogg stepped into the Intuit Dome bright and early, way before most fans and even some players had arrived. Rocking a sharp gray suit, a black turtleneck, and his signature Lakers bling, he joined Reggie Miller and Terry Gannon as an NBA analyst on Peacock for the second half of the recent Warriors and Clippers game.
Sporting a bedazzled Peacock pendant and gold-laced Chuck Taylors, Snoop took his time getting ready, proving he wasn’t there to play around. With an AP reporter in tow, he showcased his behind-the-scenes prep, emphasizing that this was no quick gig.
“I don’t think NBC would have given me this chance if they thought I wasn’t serious,” Snoop commented. “It’s not about me; it’s about what the game needs right now.” Having charmed audiences during the Paris Olympics in 2024, Snoop is clearly comfortable in live, unscripted settings on TV these days.
From “The Voice” to the Golden Globes, he has been making waves, solidifying his ties with NBCUniversal. As his role expands to include the Winter Olympics and NBA coverage, Snoop continues to break boundaries in both sports and entertainment.
Before the game on January 5th, Snoop sat in production meetings and even joined coach huddles with the likes of Steve Kerr and Tyronn Lue. He basked in the energy of the Warriors’ locker room, enjoying his own hits playing on the speakers while waiting to chat with Stephen Curry.
Curry, impressed by Snoop’s versatility, mentioned how at ease the rapper was during their chat before the Warriors-Clippers game. Known for his surprising kickoff catch during the Arizona Bowl, Snoop shines in live settings, constantly engaging audiences across the globe.
By embracing various sports broadcasts and live events, Snoop is reaching a wider audience. His upcoming stint at the Winter Olympics cements his status as a multi-faceted media figure, captivating viewers of all ages.
Former NBA star Reggie Miller and Peacock’s Terry Gannon highlighted Snoop’s dedication and authenticity, showcasing his drive to ask insightful questions in broadcast meetings. His thorough preparation contributes to the seamless, engaging broadcasts he’s a part of.
Drawing inspiration from legendary Lakers announcer Chick Hearn, Snoop melds his deep basketball knowledge with a fresh, outsider perspective. Bridging the gap between traditional sports commentary and a broader audience, Snoop brings a unique flair to the game.
