Apple’s Record Year for Services: A Look Back

Apple had a stellar year in 2025 when it comes to its services business. Eddy Cue, the head of services at Apple, described it as a year of “remarkable growth.” While Apple is typically tight-lipped about specific numbers, they did reveal some impressive stats.

For instance, Apple Music saw a surge in listener numbers and new customers, setting new records. Apple TV (formerly known as Apple TV+) also had a standout year, with a 36 percent increase in viewing hours in December 2025 – another record-breaking achievement.

The App Store continues to be a massive success for Apple, boasting 850 million weekly users globally. Since 2008, developers have earned a staggering total of $550 billion. In 2024, the App Store ecosystem generated $1.3 trillion in revenue, with over 90 percent going directly to developers. During the holiday season, the App Store experienced a record number of visitors.

Apple’s services have expanded into new markets, contributing to their growth. Apple Pay is now available in 89 markets with over 11,000 banking partners. The Tap to Pay feature was introduced in 34 new markets in 2025, bringing the total to 50. Apple Fitness+ also expanded into 28 new countries and regions.

In addition to these achievements, Apple Podcasts had a record year in its 20th anniversary, transcribing 125 million podcast episodes. Apple Arcade added 50 new game titles, and the collaboration with airlines on the “Find My” luggage tracking service resulted in a 90 percent reduction in “truly lost” luggage. Shazam recorded over a billion recognitions per month, and Apple TV garnered 672 awards and 3085 nominations with new titles like the F1 film featuring Brad Pitt.

All in all, Apple’s services business had an outstanding year in 2025, showcasing the company’s commitment to providing top-notch entertainment and utility to its users.
