Mississippi State Wild Card Preview: #STATEtoSundays

It’s playoff time in the NFL, and Mississippi State fans have a lot to look forward to on Wild Card Weekend. Five out of the six games will feature former Bulldogs, adding some extra excitement to the postseason.

Kicking things off on Saturday, we have Emmanuel Forbes with the Los Angeles Rams facing off against the Carolina Panthers, with Jaden Crumedy helping out on the Panthers’ practice squad. Later that evening, Montez Sweat and the Chicago Bears will take on the Green Bay Packers in a primetime matchup on Prime Video.

On Sunday, Logan Cooke and the Jacksonville Jaguars will host the Buffalo Bills, with Fred Walker, an MSU alum, working as an offensive assistant for the Jaguars. Darius Slay is also on the Bills reserve roster, although he has not reported yet.

Moving to the NFC, K.J. Wright will be on the sidelines as a defensive quality control coach for the San Francisco 49ers as they face the Philadelphia Eagles. And on Monday night, we’ll see Denico Autry and Woody Marks of the Houston Texans going up against the Pittsburgh Steelers, with Stephen Adegoke from Mississippi State serving as the safeties coach for the Texans.

In other news, Charles Cross and the Seattle Seahawks have earned a first-round bye, with Cross signing a hefty contract extension this week. And safety Marcus Banks and offensive tackle Tyre Phillips secured futures contracts to stay with the Buccaneers and Browns, respectively.
