Plimsoll Launches New Immersive Division for Cutting-Edge Creations

Plimsoll Productions, a part of ITV Studios, is stepping into new immersive territory with its launch of Plimsoll Immersive. The company has put Alex Ranken, Creative Director of Natural History, at the helm of this exciting venture while he continues to work his magic on traditional broadcast television content. Plimsoll Immersive will be crafting original experiences and utilizing the company’s existing IP to create captivating AR and VR content in both 2D and 3D formats.

This move builds on the innate compatibility of natural history with immersive environments and Plimsoll’s established reputation for innovating storytelling through technology. Currently, the studio is already crafting various projects for major platforms, including the adaptation of an award-winning title. During his time with Plimsoll over the past five years, Ranken has led beloved series like Tiny World and A Real Bug’s Life, both critically acclaimed and award-winning works.

Mark Brownlow, Head of Natural History, praises Alex for his next-generation storytelling and technological prowess, signaling the bright future of this new division. Alex himself is thrilled about the possibilities, saying that Plimsoll’s artistic and editorial integrity will now extend into this exciting new realm, creating opportunities for audiences to be fully immersed in the story and form deeper connections with the natural world.

As we look ahead, Plimsoll is currently bringing us a LIVE event called Skyscraper Live, set to hit Netflix soon. This show will feature the impressive free solo climber Alex Honnold tackling Taipei 101 without any ropes, promising breathtaking views and heart-stopping moments.
