Netflix January Removals: 14 Originals Leaving Soon

etflix Original library that will forever be on the streamer because they are fully owned by Netflix. But, there are also a few that run the risk of leaving if an exclusive streaming contract isn’t renewed. As we start a new year, Netflix is saying goodbye to some content throughout January.

As of January 4th, we’ve already lost the Brazilian romantic comedy movie DJ Cinderella (2019) and The Beast, an Italian action thriller from 2020. This week, we’re saying farewell to some children’s favorites: Captain Underpants Meg Blissmas, The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants Seasons 1-3, and The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants in Space—all departing on Friday. Then, next Sunday, the French comedy/drama Dear Mother will leave the streamer.

Later in the month, we can expect to bid adieu to the Holiday Fun Playlist and Merry Little Playlist on the 15th, a couple of stand-up specials, the Dylan Minnette horror film The Open House on the 19th, the documentary Mitt on the 24th, and both seasons of Archibald’s Next Big Thing on the 26th.

But fear not, because Netflix is also adding some exciting new content throughout January. Already this month, we’ve seen the release of Dr. Seuss’s Red Fish, Blue Fish: Season 2 along with classic favorites like Becky, Ghostbusters (2016), and My Girl. Coming up, we have SNL favorite Marcello Hernández’s debut stand-up special on the 7th, Season 1 and Season 2 of Prodigal Son on the 9th, and Veronica Mars Seasons 1-3 on the 14th. Plus, new releases like horror film Bone Lake on the 15th, and all seven seasons of Rizzoli & Isles on the 20th, and Bridgerton: Season 4, Part 1 on the 29th.

So, as we say goodbye to some favorites, there are plenty of new additions to keep us entertained on Netflix this January.
