Actress Evangeline Lilly reveals brain damage from Hawaii fall

Actress Evangeline Lilly recently shared on Instagram that she’s facing a big health challenge as she starts the new year. The star of “Ant-Man and the Wasp” revealed that she experienced a traumatic brain injury in Hawaii after fainting and falling onto a boulder last May.

In her post, Lilly shared that doctors confirmed she indeed has brain damage as a result of the injury. She described the diagnosis as both reassuring and intimidating. She mentioned, “Verdict’s in… I do have brain damage from my tbi. Comforting to know my cognitive decline isn’t just perimenopause, discomforting to know what an uphill battle it will be to try to reverse the deficiencies.”

In a video message, Lilly explained that brain scans showed reduced functionality in almost every area of her brain. She expressed her determination to understand the damage better and start addressing it with doctors, although she admitted that the hard work ahead doesn’t excite her since she feels like she’s always working hard.

Lilly has previously opened up about her history of fainting and blackout episodes, sharing that these have been ongoing since childhood. Despite receiving a hypoglycemia diagnosis in the past, it was later discovered that her glucose levels didn’t match that diagnosis, leaving the cause unknown.

Having stepped back from acting in 2024, Lilly mentioned that the injury has prompted her to slow down and focus on rest more. She reflected on the past holiday season as one of the most peaceful she’s had in years, expressing gratitude for each day and year she gets to spend on this beautiful planet.
