Winter Classic Thematics in Miami: Everything You Would Expect

Miami is about to experience a truly unique event – the NHL is bringing the Winter Classic to sunny South Florida! In an exciting twist, the League has big plans to sprinkle some winter magic on loanDepot Park during the game between the Florida Panthers and the New York Rangers on Friday.

Get ready to witness a one-of-a-kind fan experience at the 44th NHL outdoor game and the first in Florida. Hosted by the two-time Stanley Cup champion Panthers, the event promises to be a blend of summer and winter, fire and ice, hot and cold. Steve Mayer, president of NHL content and events, shared that half of the field will be transformed into a Miami Beach paradise, complete with lifeguard stands, umbrellas, cabanas, and swimming pools. On the other side, a snowy wonderland will appear, creating a dynamic and playful atmosphere throughout the game.

The League has been hard at work preparing loanDepot Park for the Winter Classic. The ice crew has already installed the lines and logos, with more ice to be added to set everything in place. The stadium has been transformed with boards, glass, and netting, along with a summer/winter scene as seen in the released field design rendering. The goal is to immerse fans in a fun and interactive experience from the moment they enter the stadium until they leave, ensuring there’s plenty of entertainment alongside the hockey action.

Despite Florida’s typically warm weather, the Winter Classic setting is set to maintain optimal conditions, with a rooftop that will play a surprise role during the game. By starting in the evening, the game avoids the harsh sun that could impact the ice quality, a lesson learned from past experiences. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to fully enjoy the 2026 Enterprise NHL PreGame Outdoor Fan Festival, featuring a special performance by Role Model. Plus, they can enjoy an hour-long concert at the festival.

In preparation for an unforgettable night, fans are advised to plan their parking ahead of time and soak in all the pre-game festivities to make the most of the Winter Classic experience in Miami.
