New Harry Potter Series Excites Fans
HBO is hard at work on their upcoming Harry Potter series, and it seems like they’re really excited about how it’s turning out. Speaking at Content London, Sarah Aubrey, who heads up original content at HBO Max, shared an update that should catch the attention of long-time fans. She mentioned that she’s been visiting the set and is impressed with how the adaptation is coming together, saying, “I just keep thinking, it’s such a delightful adaptation of the books. And I think when people watch it, they [will] think, ‘These are the books.’” For fans who have been hoping for a Harry Potter series that really dives deep into J.K. Rowling’s novels, this is exciting news.
Aubrey also had great things to say about the talented folks working on the series, highlighting that it’s a project deeply rooted in the U.K. film and television industry. “It’s created by a British writer, it’s directed by a British filmmaker and its craftspeople are the best that this country has to offer,” she explained. “I’m so excited for everyone to see it.” The series is currently being filmed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, where the original movies were made.
HBO is aiming for a 2027 release, with each season set to focus on one of the Harry Potter books. The show is being led by showrunner Francesca Gardiner from “His Dark Materials,” with director Mark Mylod from “Succession.” The main cast includes newcomers Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, Alastair Stout as Ron, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione.
With production in full swing and early impressions looking positive, it sounds like the new Harry Potter series is shaping up to be something fans will be truly thrilled about. Source: Variety
