Samsung Exec’s Insight into Stranger Things Creator’s Vision for Fallout Season 2

With the highly-anticipated release of Fallout Season 2 on Prime Video just around the corner, a Samsung executive recently shared some tips on the best TV picture settings for enjoying the show to the fullest. This discussion was sparked by Ross Duffer, co-creator of Stranger Things, who urged fans to steer clear of what he referred to as “garbage” TV settings that distort colors and don’t reflect the filmmakers’ vision.

In a recent interview with Kevin Beatty, Head of Product for Samsung Gaming, Interactive Experiences, and Emerging Tech, we asked for his recommendations on optimal picture settings for watching Fallout. Bethesda’s Todd Howard also joined the conversation and showed genuine interest in the topic. Beatty suggested looking into HDR10+, a High Dynamic Range format that enhances color, contrast, and brightness on supported platforms like Amazon Prime Video, where Fallout Season 2 premieres on December 16.

When Howard inquired about specific backlight settings, Beatty advised considering the lighting conditions in the viewing room. While discussing the automatic adjustments made by HDR10+, Howard shared his experiences with toggling settings on and off. Beatty emphasized the importance of adjusting settings based on the room’s lighting, rather than relying solely on default modes like dynamic mode, which are typically used for displaying TVs in stores.

Although Beatty didn’t directly address Ross Duffer’s comments on TV settings, he acknowledged the importance of maintaining the creators’ intended visuals and suggested that HDR10+ could enhance the overall viewing experience.
