Navy Secures Victory with Late Touchdown in 126th Meeting against Army

In the 126th annual Army-Navy game, the Navy Midshipmen staged an impressive fourth-quarter comeback to secure their second consecutive victory over the Army Black Knights. Trailing 16-10 with less than seven minutes left on the clock, Navy faced a critical fourth-and-goal situation on the Army 8-yard line. Quarterback Blake Horvath delivered a clutch pass to slot back Eli Heidenreich, who scored a game-tying touchdown.

Heidenreich’s performance was truly stellar, including a critical fumble recovery on third down that kept the drive alive. In addition to his touchdown, he racked up 28 rushing yards and 72 receiving yards. The extra point following the touchdown put Navy in the lead, and a strong defensive stand allowed them to run down the clock.

A bit of late-game drama ensued when Horvath fumbled the ball during a quarterback keeper, but ultimately recovered it for a close call. Despite a ruling that Army had recovered the fumble, video review overturned the decision, giving Navy a crucial fourth-and-1 opportunity that led to a first down and sealed the victory.

With a regular season record of 10-2, Navy is set to face Cincinnati in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl on Jan. 2.
