Get Festive with “Fallout: The Ghoul Log” this Holiday Season
Yule Log videos are always a fun marketing tactic, and this Fallout version isn’t even the first take on the concept. Horror streaming service, Shudder, has been doing a similar thing with their “Ghoul Log,” featuring a jack-o’-lantern, every Halloween. But this Fallout version cranks up the macabre factor, fitting perfectly with the Prime Video show’s post-apocalyptic premise. Season two of Fallout is set to drop on December 17, making it just in time for cozy holiday nights lit by… a human arm?
Indeed, as the Ghoul (played by Walton Goggins) reveals at the start of this 90-minute ambient video, that’s no ordinary log you see burning in the fire. “This ain’t no Whoville, but it’ll do,” he quips, checking his vital supplies and showing off his stash of vials. “I got enough to last me the 12 days of Christmas.”
Then, our jolly Ghoul, with Dogmeat by his side, lets us in on a little secret. “This? This ain’t a log. This is a human arm. Specifically, a fat man’s. It burns nice, doesn’t it?” He explains that he stocks up on spare arms throughout the year, “dry aging… just because it’s so nice during the winter. Stay armed, stay warm, that’s what I always say.”
Although there are no traditional seasons or Santa Claus in Fallout’s desolate world, you can still enjoy the soothing narration of Mr. New Vegas (voiced by Wayne Newton in the game) and his selection of retro radio hits, giving the ambient video a nice holiday touch.
Get ready to explore the Wasteland when season two premieres on Prime Video starting December 17. Keep in mind, this season will be released weekly rather than all at once for a good old-fashioned serial experience. Have a happy radioactive holiday, and be sure to avoid staring directly into the fire!
