Kim Kardashian recently shared that she changed her name from “Kimberly” to “Kim” just before she rose to fame through reality TV with “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” In an interview with Time, the 45-year-old star explained that the decision was prompted by the realization that “Kimberly Kardashian” was a bit long for people to say, so she opted for a shorter version.

Interestingly, Kim, who is also the founder of Skims, mentioned that she played a key role in getting her family on board with the reality show. She revealed that her passion for reality TV was ignited by watching MTV’s “The Real World” with her best friend when they were just 11 years old. This enthusiasm led to a plan to submit a tape to “The Real World” when they turned 18.

Although Kim’s mom, Kris Jenner, ultimately became her manager, the journey towards reality TV success began with Kim’s determination to promote their family’s Dash clothing boutique. By pitching the idea to her sisters, Kourtney and Khloé, as a promotional opportunity for the store, she convinced them to join the show.

After the iconic “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” concluded in 2021 after 14 successful years, the family transitioned to Hulu’s “The Kardashians.” Kim’s ingenuity and enthusiasm for reality TV played a significant role in shaping the family’s journey from reality show stars to streaming entertainment icons.
