Netflix Acquires Cozy Grove Developer Studio Spry Fox

Netflix is making some changes in its video game business by selling Spry Fox, the game developer behind “Cozy Grove” and the upcoming “Spirit Crossing,” back to its original owners. Variety has confirmed that Spry Fox, which Netflix bought in 2022, is now becoming an independent studio once again, owned and run by the founders Daniel Cook and David Edery. Although Netflix will remain the publisher for the mobile version of “Spirit Crossing” when it launches next year, the game will now be available on multiple platforms.

The news of Netflix’s sale of Spry Fox was first reported by Game File. Co-founder Edery expressed his excitement about the transition, stating, “‘Spirit Crossing’ was built to connect the world, bring people together and inspire kindness, so being able to bring the game to as many players, across different platforms, is truly the best thing for the game.” He also expressed gratitude for their time at Netflix and the continued partnership in publishing “Spirit Crossing.”

This move represents an exciting shift for Spry Fox and the future of “Spirit Crossing,” ensuring that the game reaches a wider audience and fulfills its mission of connecting people through gaming.
