Utah Man Investigated in Colorado Murder: Suspect Claims Victim’s Spirit Influenced His Purchase

On December 14, 2023, Anthony Holland from Salt Lake City, Utah, received an unexpected visit from law enforcement officers. Surprised and worried, he had no idea why they were there until one of the officers mentioned the name Kristil Krug. To his shock, Kristil Krug, a woman he dated years ago, had been tragically murdered in her home in Colorado that same day.

Before her death, Kristil had reported receiving threatening messages from someone she believed was Holland, which led the police to his door within hours of the murder. Luckily, Holland was able to provide a solid alibi with a time-dated receipt proving he was miles away at a store getting a sweatshirt at the exact time of the crime. With this evidence, he was quickly cleared of any suspicions in the case.

The circumstances surrounding the purchase of the green sweatshirt have left Holland convinced that Kristil’s spirit may have had a hand in guiding him that day. He shared with “48 Hours” that he felt a sudden and urgent need to buy the sweatshirt, which led to his innocent position in the investigation. Reflecting on the experience, Holland believes that Kristil’s spirit and that of his late mother may have influenced his actions that day.

Two days after Kristil Krug’s death, her husband Dan was arrested in connection to the crime, charged with stalking and murder. Despite the harrowing incident, Holland continues to hold onto the green sweatshirt he bought, viewing it not just as clothing, but as a symbolic representation of justice and an unwavering connection to a past love.
