Netflix Adds Two HBO Max Originals in December

Exciting news for true crime fans! Netflix is adding two highly acclaimed HBO Max Originals to its lineup starting December 1st. Love & Death and The Staircase will be available for streaming in the US.

It’s fascinating to see the partnership between Warner Bros. Discovery and Netflix expanding. With hits like Ballers, Insecure, Six Feet Under, and Band of Brothers already on Netflix, the addition of these two gripping limited series is sure to be a hit.

Love & Death, a seven-episode series released by HBO in 2023, stars Elizabeth Olsen and Jesse Plemons in a bone-chilling true story set in late 1970s Texas. Written by David E. Kelley and directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, this series received rave reviews and even earned a Primetime Emmy nomination.

If you’re a fan of true crime, you won’t want to miss The Staircase. This eight-episode series, released by HBO in 2022, stars Colin Firth and Toni Collette in a dramatization of the events surrounding Michael Peterson, a crime novelist accused of killing his wife. The series delves into the trial, the making of the documentary, and the infamous “Owl Theory.”

But will these shows be on Netflix forever? Probably not. Like other licensed titles, there’s typically a window of availability ranging from 12 to 18 months. These shows will be co-exclusive, meaning they’ll also be available on HBO Max.

So mark your calendars for December 1st and get ready to binge-watch Love & Death and The Staircase. Are you excited about these additions to Netflix? Let us know in the comments!
