Jon Stewart’s podcast episode, “Trump Won. What Now?” from The Weekly Show, quickly became one of the most-shared episodes on Apple Podcasts in the past year. The episode aired less than 72 hours after Donald Trump secured a second term in November 2024 and grabbed the seventh spot on Apple’s list of popular episodes. In this noteworthy episode, Stewart engaged historian Heather Cox Richardson in an insightful discussion about the nation’s concerns surrounding a potential second Trump administration and the enduring strength of American democracy.

The Weekly Show, distributed across various podcast platforms, has attracted a considerable digital following. The post-election episode has not only ranked as the show’s fifth most-watched on YouTube, drawing in 1.7 million views from its over 650,000 subscribers but has also been streamed over 300,000 times on Spotify. However, Apple has not disclosed the exact number of plays on its platform.

It’s interesting to note the success of The Weekly Show on Apple’s podcast platform. This is somewhat ironic given Stewart’s previous rocky relationship with the tech giant. After hosting ‘The Problem With Jon Stewart’ for Apple TV+ from 2021 to 2023, citing alleged interference in editorial content as his reason for leaving, Stewart returned in June 2024 with The Weekly Show. The latter podcast, produced by Paramount Audio in collaboration with Stewart’s Busboy Productions, has become a staple in Stewart’s return to the limelight at Comedy Central, where he now hosts on Monday nights and oversees The Daily Show as executive producer.
