Eva LaRue: CSI Miami Actress Endured Years of Stalking

Eva LaRue, the talented actress known for her roles in CSI: Miami and All My Children, recently shared a chilling story about her experience with a stalker that lasted for several years. She bravely opens up about this terrifying situation in the new docuseries on Paramount+ called My Nightmare Stalker: The Eva LaRue Story.

During the 1990s and early 2000s, while portraying Dr. Maria Santos Grey on All My Children, LaRue’s stalker sent her numerous threatening letters, signing them as Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street. The content of these letters was horrifying, filled with threats of torture, rape, and murder. What’s even more disturbing is that her young daughter, at just 5 years old, also became a target, with the stalker making similar threats against her and even tracking her down at school.

Talking about the experience, LaRue mentioned not knowing where the threat was coming from, the constant fear of being followed, and the toll it took on her health. The mental and physical impact was severe, leading to her eyelashes falling out and developing rashes on her face and neck. The letters eventually stopped, only to resume later without warning, leaving LaRue and her daughter in constant fear.

Despite portraying a DNA specialist on CSI: Miami, LaRue noted that real-life investigation methods were quite different from what was portrayed on the show. It wasn’t until 2018 that there was a breakthrough in the case when the FBI used DNA from the letters to trace the stalker, James David Rogers, who was later arrested and pleaded guilty to federal stalking charges in 2022. Rogers was sentenced to 40 months in prison, which left LaRue feeling anxious, especially after learning he was released early.

Opening up about her decision to produce the documentary, LaRue shared how hearing the stalker’s voice brought back haunting memories, detailing the threats he had made. While initially hesitant, the documentary eventually became part of her healing journey, allowing her and her daughter to come out stronger after facing unimaginable fear and anxiety.
