Rian Johnson’s Poker Face cancellation and hopes for revival

After two thrilling seasons, Rian Johnson’s TV mystery series, Poker Face, has been canceled by Peacock. But fear not, Johnson is not giving up on the show just yet! He’s on a mission to find a new home for Poker Face on another streaming platform, with a fresh face in the lead role.

Say goodbye to Natasha Lyonne as detective Charlie Cale, and say hello to Peter Dinklage stepping into the spotlight. Dinklage will be taking over the role of the gumshoe in future iterations of the show, with Lyonne staying on board as an executive producer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnson has some unique plans for the future of Poker Face. He envisions having a new actor step into the role of Charlie every two seasons, if the show gets picked up again, of course. The decision to cancel the show was a tough one, especially since it was a hit on Peacock, but unfortunately, the ratings for the second season didn’t quite hit the mark. Additionally, production costs played a factor in the cancellation, as the show was produced by MRC Television for NBCUniversal.

In a joint statement, Johnson and Lyonne expressed their love for Poker Face and their excitement for its future. They are determined to keep the show alive and are already working on plans to bring it back in a new form. So, don’t lose hope just yet—Charlie Cale may be back on your screens sooner than you think!
