Inspirations from Palm Beach: Behind the Fantasy World of Palm Royale

ESPN and ABC have recently disappeared from YouTube TV due to the expiration of a carriage agreement on Thursday. Don’t worry, though, because there are still ways to enjoy your favorite events and shows. The Apple TV+ series “Palm Royale” may have been filmed in Los Angeles instead of Palm Beach, but that doesn’t mean it lacks inspiration from the real Palm Beach.

When making the show, producers made sure to consult with the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach to maintain historical and architectural accuracy. Real Palm Beach locations like The Colony Hotel and The President condominium have served as inspirations for the sets on the show. Interior designers such as Billy Baldwin and Tony Duquette have also influenced the look of the characters’ homes.

Although the filming didn’t take place in Palm Beach, the show still drew from the rich culture of the area to create a dreamy version of the island. Inspired by iconic figures like Addison Mizner, John Volk, Slim Aarons, and Jackie O, “Palm Royale” captures the essence of Palm Beach with characters played by Kristen Wiig, Carol Burnett, Ricky Martin, and Allison Janney.

While it may be challenging to film in Palm Beach, the magic of Hollywood has allowed the team behind “Palm Royale” to recreate the spirit of the island on the Pacific coast.
