Nongshim Announces Launch of Kimchi-Flavored Shin Ramyun After Netflix Collaboration
Nongshim, the popular instant noodle maker, has exciting news for all ramyun lovers out there! They recently announced that they will be launching a new kimchi-flavored Shin Ramyun product in markets worldwide next month. This new flavor comes after the success of their previous versions, which featured characters from the Netflix animated film “KPop Demon Hunters.”
The company will first introduce the Shin Ramyun Kimchi Stir Fry in the domestic market on Nov. 24 through Emart discount stores, before expanding to countries like Australia and Taiwan. Executive Vice President Shim Gou-chul shared in a press conference that they are aiming to reach 60 to 70 markets with this new flavor and are even considering an instant cup noodle version for global expansion.
Following the popularity of Shin Ramyun Toomba, which has sold over 60 million units worldwide since its debut in October, Nongshim is confident that the kimchi-flavored variety will be a hit as well. The company’s global brand recognition has been on the rise, especially with the limited-edition cup noodles featuring characters from “KPop Demon Hunters.”
To meet the increasing demand overseas, Nongshim is expanding its production facilities, with plans for a dedicated plant for exports in Busan. With sales abroad already accounting for 38 percent of their total sales, the company is focused on boosting its global presence. In fact, they have recently adopted a new global slogan, “Spicy Happiness in Noodles,” to bring Korean flavors to more consumers worldwide.
Nongshim’s efforts to promote Korean flavors don’t stop there. They have been actively engaging in global content collaborations, like their partnership with Netflix for the film “KPop Demon Hunters.” Additionally, they have set up Shin Ramyun Bunsik restaurants in various countries, with plans to expand to more locations next year.
One exciting event to look out for is the 2025 Gumi Ramyun Festival, organized in partnership with the Gumi municipal government. The festival features interactive zones where visitors can create their own noodles and even participate in the Global Ramyun Chef contest. It’s a fun way to showcase the love for ramyun and revitalize the local economy.
With such innovative offerings and a commitment to promoting Korean flavors on a global scale, Nongshim is definitely a brand to watch out for in the world of instant noodles. Get ready to experience the spicy joy of Shin Ramyun with all your senses!
