HBO Max User Privacy Claims Face Mixed Ruling in Arbitration

WarnerMedia Direct LLC recently found itself in a legal tangle over video-privacy claims made by some HBO Max users. A federal court ruled that while WarnerMedia could arbitrate the claims of three consumers through National Arbitration and Mediation, they would have to handle the claims of two others through the American Arbitration Association.

These HBO Max users allege that the streaming service shared their video-watching histories with third parties, which they say goes against the Video Privacy Protect Act. Represented by Keller Postman LLP, these individuals are part of a larger group of consumers with similar video-privacy claims.

The case has now moved into the US District Court for the Southern District. WarnerMedia Direct LLC will need to navigate these arbitration proceedings to address the concerns raised by these HBO Max users. Stay tuned for updates as the story unfolds.
