Apple TV Introduces Netflix-Style ‘Tudum’ Chime in New Update

Apple recently unveiled a new Netflix-style chime called “Tudum” that will play before Apple TV episodes, movie trailers, and in theaters. This exciting addition comes as part of a rebrand where Apple TV has dropped the “Plus” and is now simply called Apple TV.

The new chime, which was compared by Finneas, Billie Eilish’s brother and producing partner, comes in three versions. There’s a five-second main version that you’ll hear before TV show episodes, a one-second sting for trailers, and a longer 12-second version for films in theaters like “Killers of the Flower Moon”.

Finneas described the importance of the chime, saying, “If you’re binge-ing the whole season of Ted Lasso or Severance or Disclaimer, you’re going to hear the mnemonic 10 times in one day. So it’s gotta be something that’s like a bite of ginger between rolls or something, you know?”

With the introduction of the new chime, Apple TV’s identity has become more vibrant, aligning with the multi-colored TV logo of the streaming service. And interestingly, this change also brings the streaming service in line with the name of Apple’s streaming set-top-box.
