Sci Fi TV Premiere: Pluribus Debuts, Disney Removes Doctor Who, and More

This week in sci-fi and fantasy TV, we have some exciting premieres and news updates to share. Let’s dive in!

First up, we have the premiere of “Pluribus” on Apple TV+ on November 7th. This show follows Carol Sturka, a bestselling author who finds herself immune to a mysterious virus that transforms the population of New Mexico. The first two episodes will be available this Friday, with weekly releases to follow.

Looking at the schedule for the week, there are only a few new episodes of sci-fi and fantasy shows airing. The output is a bit low right now, but we can expect more shows to join the lineup in the coming weeks. For a full list of premieres in November and beyond, check out this link.

In other news, Disney’s deal with the BBC for “Doctor Who” has come to an end. Disney had plans to franchise the show, but viewership declined during Ncuti Gatwa’s two seasons as the Doctor. The BBC has expressed interest in continuing the show and may seek a new partner for funding.

Netflix has ordered an eight-episode Spanish-language series based on Philip K. Dick’s “The Future Is Ours.” Set in the year 2047, the series follows a police officer and a young preacher who can predict the future. Production is set to begin, and we can expect the series to premiere in late 2026 or early 2027.

Lastly, rumors are circulating about the revival of the Patty Jenkins project “Rogue Squadron” as a TV series on Disney+. Work has also begun on several new sci-fi TV shows, including adaptations of graphic novels and horror series.

That’s all for this week’s sci-fi TV highlights! Stay tuned for more news and updates, and join the discussion on r/SciFiTV.
