NBCU Core Advertising Increases in Q3, Peacock Shows Growth – 10/30/2025

NBCUniversal had a solid third quarter when it comes to advertising revenue, excluding figures from the Olympics last year, which saw a 2.6% increase to $1.96 billion. The boost was largely driven by the success of their streaming platform, Peacock. A year ago, during the third quarter with the Paris Olympics, advertising brought in $1.4 billion.

Looking at total distribution revenue for NBCU, the Comcast-owned media giant saw a 1.5% increase to $2.84 billion, not counting revenue from the Olympics. When factoring in revenue from the Olympics, that number jumps to $473 million. Overall revenue for NBCU in this period was $6.59 billion, a 20% decrease from last year. However, without the Olympics revenue, core revenue was up 4.2%, thanks in part to Peacock’s success.

Speaking of Peacock, the streaming service has held steady at 41 million subscribers since March, compared to 36 million a year ago. The platform was able to cut its quarterly losses in half to $217 million, a positive sign for the company. Revenue did dip slightly from $1.5 billion to $1.4 billion due to the absence of the Paris Olympics.

On the entertainment side of things, NBCU’s studio business saw a healthy 6.1% growth to $3.0 billion, driven by hits like “Jurassic World Rebirth.” Their Theme Parks business also had a good quarter, rising 19% to $2.7 billion, thanks in part to the opening of the Epic Universe experience in Orlando earlier this year.

Switching gears to Comcast Xfinity, the company saw a decline in domestic video subscribers by 257,000, for a total of 11.5 billion. Domestic broadband subscribers also dipped by 104,000 to 31.4 million. Local advertising for Comcast’s video and other systems took a hit, sinking 13% to $864 million, largely due to tough comparisons to the previous year’s revenue from political election advertising.

Overall, NBCUniversal and Comcast are navigating a changing media landscape, with streaming services playing an increasingly important role in their revenue streams. Peacock’s performance, along with successes in their studio and theme park businesses, are highlights of their recent financial report.
