Peacock to Live Stream U.S. Open Squash Championships for First Time
This year’s U.S. Open Squash Championships are set to make history with the most advanced TV broadcast in squash’s history. NBC Sports will be presenting live coverage of the event from the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
For the first time ever, Peacock will be streaming live coverage of all four men’s and women’s semi-final matches on October 24th, starting at 6 p.m. ET. The streaming service will also broadcast Saturday’s two final matches for both men and women, beginning at 6 p.m. ET.
Produced by SQUASHTV, the coverage will include new production elements such as a cable camera, four manned super slow-motion cameras, and gimbal cameras. A total of 18 cameras will be used to capture the action, which will be distributed to broadcasters in 89 countries via Comcast Business’s advanced technology solutions integrated into the venue.
This weekend’s event will feature 64 of the world’s top players competing head-to-head. Among the elite lineup are U.S. No. 1 and World No. 5 Olivia Weaver, U.S. No. 2 and World No. 9 Amanda Sobhy, eight-time women’s world champion Nour El Sherbini, men’s world No. 1 Mostafa Asal, women’s world No. 2 Hania El Hammamy, and men’s world No. 3 Paul Coll.
The U.S. Open, celebrating its 52nd edition, is the first major Platinum-level championship in the U.S. on the PSA Squash Tour. This event serves as a stepping stone to grow the sport domestically before it debuts at the Olympics in Los Angeles in 2028. The competition will take place on the outdoor glass court at the Comcast Squash Center at Universal Studios. This weekend’s event also boasts the largest U.S. Open purse ever.
