Warner Bros. Discovery Increases HBO Max Prices
HBO Max is raising its prices again in the US, marking the second increase in less than 18 months. This move by Warner Bros. Discovery aims to manage higher content costs and a slower growth in subscribers.
For new subscribers, the ad-supported Basic plan will now cost $10.99 per month, up by $1, while the Standard plan will be $18.49, an increase of $1.50. The Premium tier, offering better video quality and more simultaneous streams, will see a jump of $2 to $22.99.
Existing customers will see these changes reflected starting from November 20. HBO Max last raised its prices in June 2024, in line with other major streaming services like Disney+, Apple TV+, and Netflix.
With popular shows like “Succession,” “Game of Thrones,” “The Pitt,” and “Peacemaker,” HBO Max holds its own in the realm of quality content. Recently, WBD CEO David Zaslav mentioned at a conference that he believes HBO Max is undervalued, emphasizing the importance of quality over quantity.
The price increase also coincides with WBD exploring a potential sale, following interest from various media companies. This adds to the ongoing shifts in the legacy media landscape. Stay tuned for more updates on HBO Max, streaming, and subscriptions.
