Why Hulu is Ending After 20 Years: The Reason Revealed

as been a wild ride for Hulu, but it’s time to say goodbye to the standalone app. Don’t worry, though, your favorite shows like “Only Murders in the Building” and “The Bear” will still be available on the new combined Disney+/Hulu app once the transition is complete.

During a recent Disney quarterly earnings call, CEO Bob Iger shared the news that Hulu will be phased out as an individual app by 2026. Instead, it will be integrated into Disney Plus, creating a brand new streaming experience. Details about this new app are still under wraps, so we’ll have to wait and see what it looks like.

However, individual Hulu subscriptions will continue to exist independently, alongside Disney Plus. This change will also bring about a new “global general entertainment” branding for Hulu, replacing the current “Star tile” in the Disney Plus menu internationally.

In Iger’s words, the Disney+ app will see some exciting upgrades in the coming months, leading up to the unified Disney+ and Hulu streaming app experience that will roll out next year.

In a nutshell, Hulu will become part of Disney Plus, but not disappear entirely. The world of streaming entertainment is evolving, and Hulu is adapting to bring you more of the shows you love.
