Disney to Shut Down Hulu Streaming Service after 20 Years

Disney is saying goodbye to Hulu after two decades of being a major player in the streaming world. The big news came on Oct. 2 when Disney announced that by next year, Hulu’s content will become fully integrated into Disney+. This marks the end of an era for the service that first launched back in 2007.

The changes started on Oct. 8 when Hulu took over the Star brand internationally, becoming Disney’s primary platform for adult-oriented content. Disney’s aim is to make it easier for subscribers to find and enjoy their favorite shows and movies by consolidating everything into one strong platform.

Earlier this year, Disney gained full control of Hulu after buying it from Comcast. While Hulu will no longer exist as a separate app, the brand will continue to live on as “Hulu on Disney+,” leveraging its strong global recognition.
