Darius McCrary from ‘Family Matters’ Sentenced for Unpaid Child Support

Darius McCrary, famous for his role on ‘Family Matters,’ is facing legal issues once again, this time for not meeting child support obligations. Border Patrol agents apprehended the actor near the U.S.-Mexico border on October 5, and he has been in a San Diego jail without bail because of an active warrant. This is known as a “fugitive arrest” case, meant for individuals in California facing charges from another state.

According to information from a representative shared on TMZ, McCray, who is 49 years old, missed a court date in Michigan concerning child support payments. His first court hearing is scheduled for October 15. After his divorce from former Harlem Globetrotter Tammy Brawner was finalized in 2019, McCray was ordered to pay $1,366 monthly in child support. Brawner was given full custody of their daughter, Zoey, with past allegations of McCray causing injury to their child.

Fans recognize McCray best for his portrayal of Eddie Winslow on the popular ABC sitcom that aired from 1989 to 1998. This isn’t the first time he has faced legal trouble related to child support, with previous arrests in 2015 and now in 2025.
