Bill Belichick and UNC documentary up for sale after Hulu cancellation
A new docuseries following Bill Belichick’s journey as the head football coach at the University of North Carolina is still in the works, despite rumors of cancellation. People report that the series is now being pitched to other distributors after Hulu backed out.
Initial reports hinted that the series, which was originally set to premiere on Hulu this fall, was scrapped following a rocky start to Belichick’s season. However, a source close to the production revealed that Hulu’s departure doesn’t spell the end of the project.
According to the insider, Hulu had a different vision for the series, which didn’t align with the university’s goals. The contracts between UNC and EverWonder Studio, the production company behind the show, remain valid. The source emphasized that a documentary will still be produced, but without Hulu’s involvement.
Belichick had initially mentioned the series in August, highlighting that it would provide a behind-the-scenes look at UNC football’s rebuilding process under his leadership. Despite facing challenges in his first season in Chapel Hill, both he and the university remain committed to the project.
While Hulu’s exit leaves the future platform for the series uncertain, fans can look forward to gaining insight into Belichick’s debut in college football once a new distributor is found.
