Jimmy Kimmel Trolls Trump After Beating Him in Approval Poll: Who is More Popular?
After a rollercoaster of a few weeks, Jimmy Kimmel shared some exciting news on his talk show recently. He proudly announced the results of a new YouGov poll that showed him with a 16-point lead in favorability over President Donald Trump.
“It turns out I am more popular than the president of the United States,” Kimmel exclaimed as the poll results appeared on-screen. He humorously pointed out that he leads Trump by 16 points—Kimmel at plus three and Trump at minus 13. “At this rate, finding a toenail in your salad is more popular than Donald Trump,” Kimmel quipped.
Kimmel joked about hoping Trump doesn’t see the poll results because he doesn’t like to upset him. He shared a statement from White House press spokesperson Anna Kelly, claiming that Kimmel “prays every night to garner a fraction of [Trump’s] support… Sad!”
“I like ‘sad’ with an exclamation point,” Kimmel responded. “It would make a nice T-shirt with Trump’s face on it, wouldn’t it?” He continued to poke fun at Trump, highlighting that the president has a lower approval rating than both Diddy and diarrhea.
The poll, conducted by YouGov, showed that 44 percent of respondents had a favorable opinion of Kimmel, while 41 percent did not. For Trump, 41 percent had a favorable view, but 54 percent did not. Trump’s net favorability was -13, while Kimmel’s was +3.
Last month, Trump rejoiced after ABC announced that Kimmel’s show would be suspended indefinitely due to controversial comments. However, Kimmel was reinstated after just six days following discussions with Disney, the show’s parent company, about the “ill-timed” remarks.
Kimmel’s return to television garnered over 6.3 million viewers, triple the show’s normal viewership. His heartfelt comeback monologue, explaining his intentions with the controversial comments, quickly went viral online, accumulating millions of views.
Kimmel expressed his emotional side during the monologue, emphasizing that it was never his intention to make light of serious issues. He sent love to the family affected by the tragedy and asked for compassion from his audience.
The poll results and Kimmel’s response showcase his humor and humanity in the face of challenging situations. It’s evident that Kimmel’s popularity and relatability resonate with audiences across the nation.
