Which TV Show is Better: The Paper or The Office?

When “The Paper” was announced as a spinoff series of the beloved sitcom “The Office,” many were skeptical, myself included. However, after watching season 1 of the Peacock series, which premiered all 10 episodes on Thursday, Sept. 4, it’s clear why “The Paper” has already been renewed for a second season.

While some may argue whether “The Paper” is better than “The Office,” I found it refreshing that the new show stands on its own merits. Sure, Oscar Nuñez reprises his role as Oscar Martinez, and the documentary crew from “The Office” is now following the company that bought Dunder Mifflin, but that’s where the similarities end.

The flawed yet passionate protagonist Ned Sampson, portrayed by Domhnall Gleeson, brings a sense of purpose and optimism as he tries to revive the declining newspaper, the Toledo Truth-Teller.

Ned’s nostalgia for a golden era that can never be fully recaptured resonates with viewers reminiscing about when “The Office” was must-watch TV. While the media landscape has changed with the rise of streaming platforms, smaller operations can still produce fresh and engaging content worth discussing.
